Multiphase Modelling of Sustainable Fuel-Derived Blow-by Species in Marine Engine Crankcases

The transition to sustainable marine fuels introduces new challenges for engine systems. This research develops physics-based digital models to predict how fuel-derived contaminants enter, spread, accumulate, and can be removed from marine engine crankcases. By combining CFD simulations, reduced-order modelling, and industrial measurement data, the work supports the development of safer and more efficient ammonia-powered engines for the maritime sector.
